Zion Receives a New Name and Marriage Joy

You shall be called My Delight Is in Her

For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness and her salvation as a burning torch. Nations will see it; a new name will be given by the Lord's mouth. A crown in the hand of God. No more Forsaken, no more Desolate. You shall be called Hephzibah, your land Beulah, for the Lord delights in you. As a young man marries a young woman, as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.

Silence would be a theological act, and the speaker refuses it. New names undo the names exile taught the city to wear. Marriage joy is God's joy over a restored people, not a modern deed, not immunity for a nation-state, not supersession, and not coercive control of women or communities.

Brightness that nations can see is public healing, not branding. A warranted life is to refuse silence while a people is still named Forsaken, to receive delight as God's initiative, and to keep bridal language from becoming a leash.
